To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
Ecclesiastes 3:1 (KJV)
Familiar season has come again, back to school!
After a long three month summer vacation, school is back! which mean back to homework, exams, and readings and of course back to all of your bffs (best friends forever). Though the come back has become well decorated nowadays, having cool backpacks, laptops and all other accessories, but are they really excited of knowing that they are back to school? I tried to ask some of our kids if they’re really enthusiastic about school, unfortunately most of them are sad because summer of fun is over.
This response is not all bad of course, we used to be kids and just like them, we love vacations because we know that school is longer, and it entails work! For parents, it is the time of reacquainting with the school, retraining the kids with their sleeping habits, scheduling transportations and getting busy in preparing their breakfast, lunches and afternoon snacks. For our kids, school is the time where they needed to learn and grow as their parents wanted them to be.
Life is no different from this season; we also have school of life that we need to embrace. This may not be as structured as the school we know, school of life has its own cycle. There were times when life seems easy and there were times when life seems so trying which we enter into the season of learning.
As I have learned before in my Bible School days, “Life is a school, so study your lessons.” Like in the natural school, we are not suppose to learn the same things again and again and school were created to elevate us until we become capable of facing new and greater challenges as we embrace different seasons in our lives. I remember my teachers during my grades school; they were so strict when it comes to the basics of school like reading, writing, and all the basics of arithmetic and sciences. Little did I know that when I entered to higher education that those basics were imperative to enable me to tackle trials and given me confidence to bring greater level of comfort and success.Even life has been well decorated nowadays and yet we need to be mindful of all the responsibilities that entails. We couldn’t just toss life around; we’ve got to take hold of it, master it and not letting the flesh to get the best of us.I’ve never though that I would come this far as far as life is concerned. When I was a child, I thought play is more important and yet when I get older and matured, life’s perspective has changed. Life has become more serious and momentous more than ever, like the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 13:11(NIV) When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me.We all have season of going back to school of learning, when finances is tight, relationship is strained, the flesh is strong and whenever our enemies seem advancing. Nevertheless, these are allowed to bring us to a lever of becoming a better person and ultimately to bring glory to God even in the midst of our sufferings.Growing is not easy and yet there is nothing better than knowing that we have been changed from glory to glory, from faith to faith and from revelation to higher revelation. Jesus himself said to Apostle Peter when he was ready to take the lead to bring the Gospel to the world, Jesus said in John 21:18 (NIV) I tell you the truth, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.”If we are in the middle of school of life today, remember to study our lessons and let us pass all the test, We have our bff, best friend forever anyways, who will never leave us nor forsake us and His name is Jesus Christ! Amen.
