What is CH_RCH and YO_TH without “U?”

Submitted by Pastor Fernan on Wednesday, 26 August 2009No Comment

There is definitely missing without “U,” right? U is especially made for the word “youth” and is also made for the word “church.”This is so self explanatory and yet so profound in nature if “U” seek to get inside of it.

Like the church, this is not just made out of building but of people. Because people without a building is still a church but a building without a people is not a church. People are neither the most important nor the only component of a church and ultimately “U” plays an important role in making to church work and affect the lives of many.

The first mention church in the Bible is when Jesus promised of his presence when two or three gather in agreement with Him, in Matthew 18:20 (NIV) For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.” The word church may not be mentioned in this verse but this is how the church works, two or three in agreement with Jesus constitute the church. Because church is not just a gathering of people, or else it is just a crowd, but a group of people where divine power is within its premise and technically, the first mention of the word church is when Jesus empowered the existence of His church here on earth in Matthew 16:18 (NIV) And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

We haven’t had a long and deep look at the reality of a church. Jesus established His church here on earth as a haven of His presence and a power house for his people. Of course, there is no way we can contain and hold God’s presence in a building or in any gathering, because He is the creator of heaven and of the whole universe! But try to think of it, imagine the enormous power that is endowed to all believers!

This is simple; “U” should not take this for granted, a privilege that is so great that cannot be tossed aside. “U” should realize that without it, it will not sound right, right? The same thing also in life, we are made to be part of His church and this not just the gathering in a building but a gathering of believers who have place their trust in Christ Jesus who has the potential to make a difference.u

“U” placed also an important role in making our youth work in the church. We love our youth and yet they need the entire association of the church to make their lives focused and insightful. The Youth helps the church to prepare its subsequent leaders. They also have the energy that if rightly directed could impact families and their communities and not to mention their own lives and ours. They are, in fact, a major part of the existence of the church. King Solomon says in Eccles. 12:1 (NIV)Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, “I find no pleasure in them”– It speaks how crucial the season of being  youth. We may have passed the age but we could still be a major contributor to help our youth.

We are still in the middle of praying and planning for the reorganization of our youth ministry, “U” could be the person that could lead or contribute to make it work. “U” are a major part of the church and why not “U” be part of our Youth too!
